Responding to regional differences, Turner founded <em>The Southern Recorder<\/em> in 1888, the<em> Voice of Missions<\/em> in 1892, and the<em> Voice of the People<\/em> in 1901. The last two were devoted to mission work. His series of letters were very popular. When he returned, he published the collection in a pamphlet called&nbsp;<em>African Letters<\/em>&nbsp;in 1893.
