MURAL EXHIBIT: THE COLORED CONVENTIONS MOVEMENT AND BEYOND IN PHILADELPHIA

What’s in the Mural?

The map above shows places where Black Philadelphians in the early nineteenth century met, gathered, worshiped, sought services, and interacted. La Pierre Hotel and Mother Bethel AME Church, depicted in the mural, were among these important sites. The nineteenth-century mural also depicts two important Colored Conventions.
